SARAH JACOBY BLOG POST #3/14

"I see things, that's all. Write enough stories and every shadow on the floor looks like a footprint; every line in the dirt like a secret message."

Everything we see, smell, or touch has the potential to be much complex than we assume it to be. Everything happens as the result of something else, the universe functions through cause and effect. Therefore there is a story behind everything and why it is the way it is. The average person does not critically think about everything they see but the main character of this story does because of his passion for writing. He puts a creative yet almost scary twist on everything that he sees, imagines some impossible scenario about how it came to be the way that it is. We could all learn more about the world surrounding us by looking for the deeper meaning or explanation of our environment. I selected this photograph of a footprint because one a simplistic level it is just the impression of someone's foot, but on a more mysterious level it could be one of many foot prints of a group of robbers trekking across the desert toward their secret hideout. This more complex level is the level that the main character would imagine.
