ALEXANDRIA ASCIOTI #2/14

"It had always made me feel better to come here, back from the time I was kneehigh to a grasshopper. It was like coming out of the darkness into sunlight, out of a storm into calm. Like being lost and found again."

The narrator is feeling a sense of rejuvenation when he re-enters his home as an adult. He is dealing with a lot of mental struggles in his older years. However, when he visits his father in his old home, he feels young again. He feels that it is the only place he can escape, where he is able to fully relax. He realizes how lost he currently feels when he goes back to his home and is able to have that sense of comfort once again.

In my opinion, this image represents someone who feels restored. When I see this picture, I see a woman who is able to run free and be herself. It is as if she is making a self-discovery. This picture relates to how the narrator in the novel is feeling when he goes back home. The subject in the painting is taking in nature and what it has to offer. The soft, light colors give the sense of calmness that the narrator feels.
