Ala Salem #3 of 14

"Dumphee had always thought his white ancestors must have been monsters to have treated the Indians so badly, to have killed them and taken their land."

In other words, according to Dumphee, back in the colonial times, the continent of North America belonged to the Native Americans. The Native Americans took advantage of the land's natural being until different colonies from Europe invaded. With their far more powerful and advanced tools and weapons, they killed the Indians, enslaved them, and plundered their lands. They kept doing so throughout history until the continent got to be known today as the United States of America. Therefore, I've decided to use Stuart Franklin's 2008 visual of the great white shark, because the shark, itself, is a monster (Dumphee's early ancestors), with its sharp teeth and large, powerful body (more powerful and advanced weapons and technology).
