Danielle Grava # 3/14

"One can only see what one observes, and one observes only things which are already in the mind."
- Alphonse Bertillon

I chose this quote from the preface of the novel. It's basically insinuating that one can't see/ understand something, unless it's already been seen. We are blind to the unknown. I feel like this is foreshadowing and will important as the novel progresses. I chose this photo of a nude woman because she is covering her eyes. She is the one choosing to be blind and I feel like in life sometimes when we are given the chance to be blind toward something that scares us, we remain blind.
