Hessa Al Rumaihi Blog # 3/14

"Of Course there were cruelty in the arena. There were cruel executions. There was the ever present cruelty of slavery".

The Denotation of Slavery is the state of being under control of another person. For as long as i can remember slavery has been going on in different forms. When we first think of slavery, the first thing that pops in our head is the black slaves that worked for the white people to earn some money to support their families. When you look back into the slavery history, white people used to be slaves as well and would work to put some money in their pockets and there was no discrimination about who was a slave, work was considered work. In the novel Pandora, she describes how she used to live before she was turned into a vampire and how wealthy her family was and the amount of slaves she had in her household. She described her slaves as "rich", and they wore fancy clothes because they weren't differentiated at that time. They worked as slaves for a living, and that was normal. Today when you hear the word slavery, the first thing that we think of us was how the black people were mistreated and how they were the slaves only. I used this picture because it portrays who are the real slaves, which are the Africans that are under control from the people that are against the government and have been killing all those innocent people, those are the people that should be considered the slaves and should be helped.
