AMANDA N. CRUZ GERENA 9/13

"She went and raked at the dead coke; the stove was cold to the touch: there hadn't been a fire alight there for hours or days. The thought struck her that she'd been deserted: perhaps this was what happened in this world, the sudden flight, leaving everything behind..."

In this quote and from the beginning of part 7 the only thing being describes us Rose's lost hope. She feels she will be damned as well, just because she is with him. The description of the things she has in her background, abandoned, cold features in the kitchen I believe is the description of her heart. The heart of every house is the kitchen. In spanish there is a saying "barriga llena corazon contento" which means a full stomach is a happy heart. And as the kitchen is being described you can tell, it it the hard description of her own heart, filled with unhappiness. The image I chose is from one of THE most famous graffiti artists in the world, Bansky. He is a british anonymous politcal activist who shows what the people feel through is graffiti. This particular one is about the lost hope of innocence, and of hope itself. It reminded me of this quote because of the way Rose has let her own hear just fly away, loosing her own hope for happiness.
