Hessa Al Rumaihi Blog # 6/13

"I went out to the soft wet grass of the peristyle and looked up at the blue sky. I wanted only to breathe, but now came the moment of truth regarding my belongings. I was too dazed to ask about what was mine. And as it turned out, no such thing was necessary." pg.100

Nature has its on way of speaking to us, just by looking up at the bright blue sky, breathing in the fresh air, looking at the blooming colorful flowers during spring, and the leaves that we find outside our porches during the fall. We grew up waiting for these seasons to come bringing with them all these magical moments and memories. We never seem to recognize and appreciate what's around us and take advantage because we never know when these things will disappear one day. As human beings we can never think of a day without seasons, flowers, oceans, mountains, rivers...etc, it is too good to be true. I chose this picture of a woman lying down in the grass during the 50s because it looked like it was such a peaceful generation and where no problems like today were occurring. She looks very happy lying down looking up at the sky. There weren't any global issues like there are today and people weren't as concerned about environmental issues. People were very friendly and conservative at that time, and they lived such simple lives. I would give anything to go back and live during the 50's.
