Carly Gaffney Blog #6

"What she thought was that Sally's guilt complex for bringing a tarnished background into Sim Torrence's life drove her to alcoholism."

Alcohol has many implications for its purpose. For some it's a social drink while you are out. It may be something you eat with dinner. Others might use alcohol to drown sorrows or take certain pains away. In this instance alcohol turned into a disease, alcoholism. Something that happens when drinking becomes out of control for the person who is consuming it. It was used for guilt. Alcohol in this case is used in a negative way. It is temporary suppressant for a bigger problem. In the picture mimicking a quote by William Shakespeare using Absolut vodka is another example of how alcohol can deter someones actions. According to William Shakespeare's quote, "Provokes the desire but takes away the performance" implies how alcohol can affect male performance in the bedroom. It is a direct connotation of erectile dysfunction in man. I think that is a powerful message to convey and is effective by using a widely known brand of alcohol. The point is alcohols is an effect.
