DANA SAYDAK #7 of 14

"Those were the words I could never say. Those were the feelings that I had to bury inside myself, that I could never let out for fear that they would be just horrendous. The feelings that, when they finally did come out, it was out of the barrel of a gun." (p.122)

Mark David Chapman had some deep seeded issues when it comes to expressing oneself. Unfortunately, it wasn't until he murdered someone that Chapman did truly express himself. The image chosen is of a child thankful for what he has and loving his life. This is the opposite of Chapman, he was never thankful for anything. Chapman never appreciated a single thing and never expressed himself, and as a result he acted out in the form of a murder.
